Currently Open Committees:
- Business Strategies(has additional requirements): This committee reports to the Development Committee and is responsible for developing monetized opportunities to support the budget and mission of IPEG. The Committee develops program (in-person and virtual) that present educational content (CME and non-CME) in new & emerging technology, innovations, quality & value analysis, supply chain management, as well as connections to industry partners seeking insight from pediatric surgeons. Must complete one 3-year term on another committee to be eligible.
- Calendar of Content: Tasked to develop internal content (IPEG generated) while overseeing the release of external content to provide an organized and controlled product throughout the year. This includes receiving proposals for courses, webinars and other content after being vetted by regional representative for final suggestions, decisions and date of release. This committee is separate from the program committee (primarily responsible for the annual meeting). Therefore, this committee need to organize with foresight how the meeting content folds into the other offerings.
- Development (has additional requirements): This committee pursues fundraising in support of the activities and programs of the Society, through both outside funding sources and member gifts in conjunction with the administrative office. Must complete one 3-year term on another committee to be eligible.
- Digital/Social Media: The goal of this committee is to make IPEG more creative in how the membership is engaged. This will include community engagement, marketing and advertising. Utilizing social media, the committee will not only provide more information to the membership but demonstrate the potential value to other surgeons who may be interested.
- Education: This committee has subcommittees and special projects including: Education Resources/Simulation, Clinical Practice Guidelines, Learning Center, and video library implementation. This committee focuses on encouraging and supporting development of standards of training and practice in Pediatric Minimal Access Surgery and endoscopy.
- New Innovative Spaces: While IPEG, is focused on the advancement of minimally invasive techniques in children, the society has always encouraged innovative approaches to surgical treatment in children. In order to assure that we don’t get stuck into a monocular vision of the future, we must make sure we are always paying attention to all née innovative spaces so nothing passes us by. This could be image guided surgery, endoscopic techniques, AI, 3D printing, AR/VR etc.
- Program (has additional requirements): This committee works with the program chair each year to decide the panels and lectures for the annual meetings which abstracts are selected for presentation. Must complete one 3-year term on another committee to be eligible.
- Publications (has additional requirements): This committee works with the journal, JLAST, to review and encourage manuscript submissions to the journal. Must complete one 3-year term on another committee to be eligible.
- Research: This committee helps to decide the recipient of the research award each year and will also help to leverage IPEG as the hub of multi-center research studies being performed by IPEG members.
- Simulation & Training: The mission of IPEG is to encourage the development and evaluation of minimally invasive surgical treatments in children through peer-to-peer communication, education, and research. Over the years IPEG has developed state of the art simulation and training which has become world recognized. We need to maintain this tradition. While the pandemic has limited our capacity to hold simulation and training courses, now more than ever we need a strong committee to push forward even during the pandemic through tele-simulation using modern digital technology. The goal of this committee is to produce, promote and maximize the use of our wide array of trainers from our members.
- Technology, Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Committee: This committee fosters IPEG members’ entrepreneurship by encouraging the development of business ideas.
